Apollo 16, NASA's 10th moon mission, took off on April 16, 1972, and landed on the Moon's Descartes Highlands on April 20. The crew consisted of the commander, John W. Young, the command module pilot, Thomas K. Mattingly and the lunar module pilot, Charles M. Duke. They spent about 71 hours on the moon, with 20 hours dedicated to walking and driving the lunar rover. They gathered samples, conducted experiments and captured photographs and videos.
