After two hours of talks in Geneva on Wednesday, the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, said negotiations had been “difficult but businesslike.”

A second day of US mediated peace talks between Ukraine and Russia ended after just two hours. Ukraine said there had been progress as Russia said negotiations were difficult.

U.S.-brokered talks between Russian and Ukrainian envoys are continuing in Geneva, with both sides apparently still far apart on peace terms

The talks came just days before the fourth anniversary of Russia's 2022 invasion of its much smaller neighbor.

Talks between Russia, Ukraine and the US aimed at ending Moscow's war in Ukraine have concluded without a breakthrough. The trilateral meetings, held in Geneva, went on late on Tuesday but only lasted two hours on Wednesday.

The latest U.S.-brokered talks between Russian and Ukrainian envoys over Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine ended Wednesday with no sign of a breakthrough and with both sides saying the talks were “difficult” as the war’s fourth anniversary approaches next week.

Also in Geneva will be American, Russian and Ukrainian military chiefs, who will discuss how ceasefire monitoring might work after any peace deal, and what's needed to implement it.
