The 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics are underway from Italy, and medals are already being collected. Action began on Wednesday, Feb. 4 with the first medal being handed out on Saturday. Medals will be handed out daily from now until the end of the event on Feb.

As for No. 2, that's still Italy with 26 total medals, nine of which are gold, five silver and 12 bronze. But, the good news for the United States is that even though they are still No. 3, they're getting closer to Italy. As of the end of the day on Wednesday, the U.S. had 24 total medals, with seven gold, 11 silver and six bronze.

Brothers Melle van 'T Wout and Jens van 'T Wout captured the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in a moment they will surely never forget. They crossed the finish line ahead of fellow Netherlands athlete Teun Boer, who finished in fourth place.
