By Amy Tennery MILAN, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Defenceman Quinn Hughes blasted in an overtime winner to send the United States past Sweden 2-1 in the men's Olympic ice hockey quarter-final on Wednesday, setting up a meeting with the tournament darlings Slovakia in the final four.

Vancouver Canucks players Elias Pettersson, Lukas Reichel, Filip Hronek, and David Kämpf have all officially been eliminated from 2026 Winter Olympic medal contention with their quarter-final losses today. Kevin Lankinen remains the sole Canuck to still be partaking in the competition, with Finland taking on Canada on February 20.

After Team GB beat USA in their final round robin game today to end with a 5-4 record they now need either Norway to lose their final match to already-qualified Canada or Italy to lose their final match to unbeaten Switzerland. Both those games are on Thursday morning.

Jordan Binnington, Dalibor Dvorsky, Colton Parayko and their respective teams advanced with wins in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, guaranteeing all will get the chance to play for a medal at the Winter Games.

Both Kaila Kuhn and Winter Vinecki had a shot to medal for Team USA after advancing to the final run among the top 6 competitors in women's aerials.

Elana Meyers Taylor won her first gold medal, and sixth overall, taking first in women's monobob. She is now tied with Bonnie Blair as the most decorated female American winter Olympian. Her teammate, Kallie Humphries, took bronze.
